Monster Hunter Tri[]

Underwater[]

Roar Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

The Lagiacrus will stay still, emitting an ear-splitting roar that causes the hunter to cover his/her ears and stop in their tracks, potentially causing an opening for the monster to attack. It will usually give some warning by moving its neck into a position allowing it to roar.

Rage Mode
The Lagiacrus will use this to announce when it enters rage mode.
Evasive Maneuver

Block if possible/necessary or dive through the roar. With proper timing, it is possible to roll through this without evasion skills. Use of evasion skills is recommended, however.

Wearing an armor set with the Earplugs' skill will cancel out the effect of the roar. Otherwise, the simplest option is to be out of range of the roar when it happens.

Turning Claw Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

Turns to face the hunter, using its claws to propel itself. The claw swipe inflicts a small amount of damage to the hunter.

Rage Mode
Nothing worth mentioning.
Evasive Maneuver

Damage is too minimal to worry about dodging. However Lagiacrus peforms this between attacks so it is wise not to move too close. The continual damage, along with the slight stagger it causes, can prove a nuisance.

Spin Attack Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

Lagiacrus curls over itself while biting then, while straightening itself out, its tail lashes out, causing medium damage to the hunter.

Rage Mode
Attack becomes faster.
Evasive Maneuver

Position dependant. If close to Lagiacrus' head, evade towards its neck. If not, evade away. To avoid the tail lash move towards the direction the monster's head is facing. Alternatively, stay in the center of its body whilst attacking.

Electric Barrier Ailment Inflicted: Thunderblight
Normal Mode

Lagiacrus arches its back and produces an electric shield around itself. The electric field stops just short of its tailtip and nose. Beware as this attack prepares the monster for discharge or spin dash. It causes the hunter to be thrown backwards through the water, leaving you open.

Rage Mode
Nothing worth mentioning.
Evasive Maneuver

Move a safe distance away from the monster's body or, if possible, block it. Lagiacrus is open to attacks shortly afterward.

Discharge Ailment Inflicted: Severe Thunderblight/ Thunderblight
Normal Mode

Curls up and arches its back. Produces a discharge field as with the small shock, followed by sporadic explosions of lightning further away from its body.

Rage Mode
May perform this move more often.
Evasive Maneuver

Move well away from the monster's body, or if you are in the range of the small explosions, prepare to either block or dive away. Constant blocking is not an option, as the chances of a second explosion striking are high. If the hunters' stamina is low, which it may be after blocking an earlier explosion, this second hit will surely hit them.

Thunder Ball Ailment Inflicted: Severe Thunderblight/ Thunderblight
Normal Mode

Fires a projectile of water infused with electricity from its mouth. May perform this twice in quick succession.

Rage Mode
Becomes much faster in rage mode. The chance of performing two thunder balls in quick succession also rises.
Evasive Maneuver

When close, dodge roll or block if possible. When further away just move out of harms way. Players close enough will have a brief window afterwards where Lagaicrus becomes idle. The Lagiacrus will choose a particular hunter to direct this move at; it will turn its head sharply and without warning when aiming.

Charge Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

Lagiacrus moves away from its target, looks at it sideways, then charges straight at the hunter with an open mouth. Also produces a water current that can knock back any hunter without the Current Res skill if the hunter is close enough to the move.

Rage Mode
May immediately follow up the first charge with a hip check, chomp, or another charge. Attack also becomes faster.
Evasive Maneuver

Keep moving away from the Lagiacrus and aim to get outside of its attack range. Dodge or block when neccesary.

Body Slam (Underwater) Ailment Inflicted: Thunderblight (When surrounded by electricity) + Knockout
Normal Mode

The Lagiacrus turns sideways then slams its body against the hunter. This attack has deceptive range. May perform this attack twice in quick succession. May also perform the single or double body slam whilst surrounded by a shield of electricity. The attack does considerably more damage if it charges the slam with electricity.

Rage Mode
Almost always performs a double slam with electricity. Attack becomes much faster. Knockout chance increases.
Evasive Maneuver

Block when neccessary or dodge away, but be aware that blocking a potential double Body Slam my have dire consequences. Dodging sideways will not work in most situations.

90 Degree Bite Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

Lagiacrus turns 90 degrees and bites whilst turning at a hunter in its vicintity causing a small-medium amount of damage.

Rage Mode
Pefroms the attack multiple times when enraged.
Evasive Maneuver

It is a close-range attack so dodging/ blocking is only neccessary when in close. Lagiacrus is vulnerable to attacks for a short period afterwards, especially when below the monsters mouth.

Spin Dash Ailment Inflicted: Waterblight
Normal Mode

Moves to a far side of the area, curls up, then dashes across the map while spinning, causing a vortex of water along its path. It is powered up if electricity is gathered around the monster. Thhe currents around the leviathan cause no damage, but inflict waterblight if the hunter is caught in them. Can also send the hunter whirling back when the hunter is without the skill Current Res Up.

Rage Mode
Becomes somewhat faster.
Evasive Maneuver

When in close dodge sideways to aviod damage, remember to dodge at the last second or the Lagiacrus will alter its course toward you. At a meduim distance begin to swim away from Lagiacris, dodging only when neccessary and try to get in an attack at the end of the monsters attack. When a a long distance away begin to swim backwards until the monster stops then attack when it flips itself over, and is stationary for a few seconds. Like the Thunder Ball, the Lagiacrus will orient its attack towards a specific hunter, if playing on multiplayer. Be aware of these changes and watch the monsters' line of sight for an idea of where it is going to strike.

Land Based[]

Sliding Charge Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

The Lagiacrus will dash backward, lower his head and slide towards the Hunter while assuming an Alligator-like pose and finish the attack by diagonally curving his body to slow down again. Can sometimes be powered up through electricity.

This attack is identical to the Sliding Charge of the Agnaktor.

Rage Mode
Becomes somewhat faster.
Evasive Maneuver

If you find yourself in front of him when he is performing this attack you can easily counter it by running towards the sides, rolling, diving or blocking if you are able to do so.

The simplest way to keep this move from hitting you however is by constantly staying on the move in a sideway fashion or by circling around the Lagiacrus, doesn't matter whether it's clockwise or counter-clockwise.

If you are behind the Agnaktor or at a small distance at either of his sides you usually don't have to do anything.

Roar Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

The Lagiacrus will stay still, emitting an ear-splitting roar that causes the hunter to cover his/her ears and stop in their tracks, potentially causing an opening for the monster to attack.

Rage Mode
Nothing worth mentioning.
Evasive Maneuver

Block if possible/necessary or dive through the roar. With proper timing, it is possible to roll through this without evasion skills. Use of evasion skills is recommended, however.

Having an armor with the Earplugs' skill will cancel out the effect of the roar.

Neck Lunge Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

Lagiacrus stretches its neck in a snaking motion while biting, damaging anything in front of the monster.

Rage Mode
Nothing worth mentioning.
Evasive Maneuver

A fairly easy dodge to side of Lagiacrus' neck. The rest of Lagiacrus' body is open to attack while it is performing this move.

Body Slam (Grounded) Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

Lagiacrus rears up before crashing back down, hitting any hunter under or slightly forward of it. Causes the hunter to roll away quite severly and inflicts meduim-high damage.

Rage Mode
Nothing worth mentioning.
Evasive Maneuver

Avoid the crash area or block. If close to the Lagiacrus but not within the damage hitbox, the hunter will experience the Quake status.

Trample Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

Runs towards its target, trampling anything in its path.

Rage Mode
Nothing worth mentioning.
Evasive Maneuver

Avoid the monster's path or block. When evaded there is free opportunity to attack. This attack does very little damage but causes knockback.
