Attaques[]
MH3[]
Roar | Ailment Inflicted: None |
Normal Mode | |
Gigginox raises its head, then roars loudly at the hunter. If performed in cave areas, this will cause icicles to fall from the ceiling, potentially hitting hunters. This is one of the few roars that requires High-Grade Earlpugs to render ineffective.
| |
Rage Mode | |
Gigginox will occasionally roar multiple times in a row when enraged.
Evasive Maneuver | |
This attack does not deal any damage (although the icicles that fall from the ceiling may inflict minor damage to the hunter), so it is not absolutely necessary to avoid this move. Using High-Grade Earplugs will render the roar ineffective, as will blocking, although blocking drains stamina, and causes moderate knock-back. |
Body Slam | Ailment Inflicted: None |
Normal Mode | |
Gigginox rears up onto its back legs, then "flops" onto the hunter with its wings spread out, covering a reasonably large area. It will take Gigginox a few moments to reposition itself after this attack.
Rage Mode | |
None worth mentioning | |
Evasive Maneuver | |
Rolling to the gap in between either of Gigginox's wings and head is a good idea, as this should mean that the hunter avoids getting hit. Simply rolling away may also prove effective, but is dangerous, as Gigginox's head can stretch while performing this attack, making it difficult to predict the range of this attack. |
Poison Body Slam | Ailment Inflicted: Poison |
Normal Mode | |
Similar to the regular Body Slam, except the Gigginox spends a significantly larger amount of time rearing back. As it is rearing back, small clouds of purple gas start exuding from its body. When Gigginox slams down, a large cloud of purple gas is released, which will poison the hunter if hit.
Rage Mode | |
Performed slightly more often.
Evasive Maneuver | |
Roll away from Gigginox at least 2-3 times as it is rearing back, and there should be ample time to get out of the range of this attack. It is important to be further away from Gigginox during this attack than for the regular Body Slam, as the poison cloud makes the range of this attack significantly larger than Body Slam's. |
Poison Spit | Ailment Inflicted: Poison |
Normal Mode | |
Gigginox shuffles slightly backwards, before rearing its head back, then hurling a glob of poisonous substance towards the hunter. This poison ball travels a varying distance, usually landing at the location the hunter was standing when the Gigginox began this attack. Upon landing, the poison ball creates a poisonous cloud, which lingers where the attack landed, for a few seconds.
Rage Mode | |
None worth mentioning | |
Evasive Maneuver | |
Roll to either side of the Poison Spit, as it has very little horizontal range. |
Poison Backjump | Ailment Inflicted: Poison |
Normal Mode | |
Gigginox fires a glob of poison, similar to that used in the Poison Spit, but will launch itself backwards while doing so. Gigginox will usually land on a wall after performing this attack if in a cave area. As with the Poison Spit, this glob of poison will create a poisonous cloud when it lands, which will linger for a few seconds, poisoning any hunters who come into contact with it.
Rage Mode | |
None worth mentioning | |
Evasive Maneuver | |
This attack can be difficult to anticipate, and therefore can prove difficult to avoid. In the short time Gigginox is rearing back to prepare to spit, roll to the side 1-2 times, and the glob of poison should miss. |
Overhead Leap | Ailment Inflicted: None |
Normal Mode | |
Gigginox leaps high into the air towards the hunter, landing in the position the hunter was as this attack began. After landing Gigginox will take a few moments to recover.
Rage Mode | |
None worth mentioning | |
Evasive Maneuver | |
This attack covers a significant area, meaning it may prove difficult to avoid. Simply running away from the location the hunter was at when the Gigginox began this attack is probably the safest option. Panic Diving is also a suitable option if the hunter's weapon is sheathed, as the period of invulnerability this grants can be very useful. |
180 Degree Leap | Ailment Inflicted: None |
Normal Mode | |
Gigginox leaps high into the air, spinning 180 degrees and landing behind the hunter. As it lands, Gigginox's head "flops" down, which can also hit hunters.
Rage Mode | |
None worth mentioning | |
Evasive Maneuver | |
Roll towards where Gigginox was at the beginning of this attack, and this should miss. Rolling to the sides 2-3 times may also work, but this is more difficult since the Gigginox covers quite a wide area upon landing. |
Charge | Ailment Inflicted: None |
Normal Mode | |
Gigginox runs towards the hunter, swinging its neck side-to-side slightly as it does so, damaging the hunter if hit.
Rage Mode | |
This attack is slightly faster when Gigginox is in Rage Mode.
Evasive Maneuver | |
Run to the side of Gigginox, as it cannot change direction mid-charge. If caught too close, rolling at the last second is a good way to gain some valuable distance from Gigginox. |
Egg Lay | Ailment Inflicted: None |
Normal Mode | |
Gigginox plants its tail on the ground, raises its head, then emits a cry as it lays an egg. Over time, Giggi will emerge from the egg, becoming a potential hazard as their numbers increase. The egg will eventually disappear on its own, but the hunter can shorten this time considerably by attacking the egg.
Rage Mode | |
Performed less often than the Poison Egg Lay.
Evasive Maneuver | |
As this attack does not inflict damage, and Gigginox is stationary for some time, this is a useful opportunity for the hunter to deal some decent damage to Gigginox. This time can also be used to heal, sharpen, lay a trap etc. |
Poison Egg Lay | Ailment Inflicted: Poison |
Normal Mode | |
Gigginox performs the exact same action as it does with the regular Egg Lay. Instead of an egg that releases Giggi, Gigginox lays a purple blob that explodes in a large cloud of poisonous smoke after a few seconds. If attacked, the poison "egg" will explode faster than it would naturally.
Rage Mode | |
This attack is performed far more often while Gigginox is enraged.
Evasive Maneuver | |
This attack can only damage the hunter if they are nearby the "egg". Other than that, this attack is exactly the same as the regular Egg Lay. The hunter can use this time to attack the Gigginox's head, as the exploding cloud will not reach the hunter if they are near the head. |
Hang-over Poison Spit | Ailment Inflicted: Poison |
Normal Mode | |
This attack is only performed when Gigginox is on the ceiling, and therefore can only be used when Gigginox is in a cave area. Gigginox anchors itself to the ceiling with its tail, then swings towards the hunter, flinging a blob of poison as it does so. Gigginox then repeats this procedure twice, before either continuing to walk on the ceiling, or perform a Hang-over Smash.
Rage Mode | |
Performed slightly more often.
Evasive Maneuver | |
The poison globs will be aimed at where the hunter was originally, so running in a circular path around Gigginox should cause the attacks to miss. If in doubt, rolling at the last second before the glob would hit increases the chance of the hunter escaping unharmed. |
Hang-over Neck Swipe | Ailment Inflicted: If completed, poison. |
Normal Mode | |
This attack can only be performed while Gigginox is on the ceiling. Gigginox anchors its tail to the ceiling, then swings its body around in a circular path in an attempt to swipe the hunter, greatly extending its body while doing so.
Rage Mode | |
Performed slightly more frequently
Evasive Maneuver | |
Run as far away as possible from Gigginox, and Panic Dive at the last second. If the hunter's weapon is unsheathed, Panic Diving will not be possible, and this attack will be considerably harder to avoid. Running towards Gigginox may help to avoid this attack, as the hunter should pass inside the circular area of effect of this attack. |
Hang-over Smash | Ailment Inflicted: None |
Normal Mode | |
This attack is only performed while Gigginox is on the ceiling or a wall, and hence can only be performed in cave areas. Gigginox lifts one of its front legs, then flings itself at the hunter, flipping 180 degrees as it does so, so that it lands on its stomach.
Rage Mode | |
None worth mentioning | |
Evasive Maneuver | |
Run away from Gigginox, slightly to the side, and this attack should miss. If the hunter's weapon is sheathed, Panic Diving is a good option, as it allows the hunter to avoid any damage during the large period of invulnerability it grants. |
Neck Swipe | Ailment Inflicted: None |
Normal Mode | |
One of Gigginox's most common attacks. Gigginox swipes at the hunter twice with its neck, which extends considerably when it does so. The first swipe will be performed to the right, and the second swipe to the left.
Rage Mode | |
None worth mentioning | |
Evasive Maneuver | |
This attack has slightly less range to Gigginox's right-hand side, so it is advised for the hunter to move to this side. Standing behind Gigginox while it performs this attack is safe, so the hunter should attempt to do so if at all possible. |
MHP3rd[]
- This section only covers new moves/changes to old moves.
- High-Rank Gigginox's poison is now darker in colour, and drains health at a much faster rate than previously.
Poison Body Slam | Ailment Inflicted: Poison |
Normal Mode | |
This attack differs in the movements Gigginox makes when performing this move, but has the exact same effects. Instead of rearing back then slamming down, Gigginox raises its belly up into the air, before jumping a short distance into the air, then slowly lowering its body while releasing poisonous gas.
Rage Mode | |
None worth mentioning | |
Evasive Maneuver | |
The evasive maneuvers remain the same as those for the Poison Body Slam used in MH3. |
Tail Swipe | Ailment Inflicted: None |
Normal Mode | |
Almost identical to the Neck Swipe used in MH3, but Gigginox swipes the hunter twice with its tail instead of its neck.
Rage Mode | |
None worth mentioning | |
Evasive Maneuver | |
Similar to the Neck Swipe, in that the player should try to move to the right-hand side of Gigginox, but it is advised to move towards Gigginox's front, as this attack cannot harm the hunter standing there. As with the Neck Swipe, this attack can be blocked, making this a viable alternative for a hunter using a weapon capable of doing so. This attack has a slightly longer period in which Gigginox is vulnerable to attacks than the Neck Swipe, as it has to turn its body to face the hunter afterwards. This means that the hunter can inflict a decent amount of damage after avoiding/blocking this attack. |
